Latest Insights
Over the last few months, our lab team has been evaluating the foaming properties of our 100% naturally derived bio-surfactant blend, Sophocoll®.
Sophocoll® is known for boosting foam and moisturisation levels to create a range of products, including shampoo, body wash, and micellar water.
The mild and easy-to-use liquid blend creates a soft and creamy foam to repair skin and hair.
The aim of the study was to understand if the foaming height of Sophocoll® differed when used at various use levels.
The Method
The lab team created three surfactant solutions using different levels (1%, 3% and 5%) of Sophocoll® diluted in water. 30ml of the solution was poured into a graduated cylinder and was agitated for 20 seconds, and the following key parameters were measured straight after agitation.
The test was repeated 3 times to calculate an average.
The Results
Each solution produced foam that remained stable for 30 minutes without degrading significantly. This suggests that the height of the foam produced by Sophocoll® is very stable even at the lowest concentrations.
The 1% solution had the fastest foam degradation rate, the initial foam height was 59ml, and it degraded to 54ml (after 30 minutes). The 5% solution had the slowest degradation rate, the initial foam height was 63ml, and it degraded to 57ml. This shows that the higher the concentration, the slower the foam degradation rate is.
