Spraymulse®: Behind The Scenes

It’s been a busy year for the Alchemy team, with all hands on deck for the launch of Spraymulse®, our new emulsifier-stabiliser that can handle up to 50% oil.

As with all our products, developing the ingredient took time and a whole lot of love. And as a team, we wanted to showcase the essence of Spraymulse® throughout our materials, specifically through video.

So, we created two short-form videos to really demonstrate the brilliance of it, from introducing the ingredient to how to use it. 

And we'd like to take you behind the scenes to delve into just how we made them - including the bloopers in between!

The Alchemy team loves getting hands-on with our filming days, from brainstorming ideas and planning shots to stepping in front of the camera!

For us, video days are a full-on team effort. It’s not just about hiring a videographer; it’s about collaboration between the marketing and lab teams, both behind the scenes and in the spotlight. After all, who knows our products better than us?

It all starts with the team coming up with a storyboard, ideal locations, props, and actors (mainly our lovely lab team), so we can get the most from our filming day.

There are a few bits we need for our filming days:

• Formulations - A glowy lineup featuring our Shimmering Body Spritz, Hydrating Milky Toner, SPF 30 Spray, and the oh-so-refreshing Glow & Unwind Facial Mist.
• Star of the show - Endless bottles of Spraymulse®.
• Filming locations - Between the lab and our Director, Sarah's garden.
• Actors - Our cast included Iqra and Charlotte, our brilliant development chemists; a cameo from me (Danni, your friendly marketing exec); Eva, Sarah’s daughter; and of course, our scene-stealing “professional actor,” Forrest the dog.
• Props - Think pretty pots, pastel bowls, sleek spatulas, and plenty of aesthetic bottles ready for their close-up. So we can squeeze in some other formulation shots where we can!

We shot the majority of our how-to video in our lab, capturing the simple stages of using the ingredient. 

The day was filled with laughs and Forrest photobombs!  

To our surprise, it posed quite a challenge to get our perfect Spraymulse® spray shot! So many attempts, we lost count.

All in all, we are very pleased with the results, having caught Spraymulse® in all its glory.

Our filming days are a true team effort, where science meets creativity and everyone plays a part. 

From the lab bench to the camera lens, it’s always inspiring to see our ideas come to life and our people shine (sometimes literally, thanks to the body spritz!).
